Course Information
Who should take this course? This engaging and interactive course has been created for parents, grandparents and anyone caring for babies and young children so that they can respond promptly and effectively to any first aid incident or emergency as well as giving advice on how to manage common childhood illnesses and conditions. Includes a FREE place on a public face to face class.
Certification: On successful completion of the multiple-choice assessment, learners can download a certificate as evidence that they have passed the course.
Course content provides you with the knowledge to:
- understand the role and responsibilities of the first-aider
- assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and
effectively in an emergency - Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take
- Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
- Unresponsive and not breathing normally
- Seizures
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)
- Anaphylactic shock
- Burns and scalds
- Suspected fracture
- Foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
- Eye injuries
- Bites and stings
- Asthma attack; an allergic reaction; meningitis; and/or febrile convulsions
- Put together appropriate contents for a first aid box
